GRAND GUIGNOL - series of shorts directed by Fred Paul, 1921.

From Kevin Lyons' 'Encyclopedia Of Fantastic Films and TV' website: "During 1921, Fred Paul embarked upon an epic project to capture the essence of the French 'Grand Guignol' theatre in five series of short films, all released under the umbrella title GRAND GUIGNOL". George Saxon's A BIT OF BLACK STUFF and G.B. Stern's THE CURSE OF WESTACOTT were among the tales filmed (ref: Denis Gifford, 'A Pictorial History Of Horror Movies'). Walt Lee's 'Reference Guide to Fantastic Films' features an overall entry for the series, without listing the film titles; Lee does include separate entries for THE STING OF DEATH and VOICE FROM THE DEAD, which I have included separately in my main 'horror shorts' list as well as here. Many of the others should perhaps be considered 'borderline' or 'problem' titles until further information comes to light.
